The DoubleTree chain owned and run by Hilton Resorts and Hotels consists of more than 400 hotels in 33 countries. One of these hotels is Sheffield Park located close to the Peak District, offering 4* luxury hotel and leisure club facilities. An existing Bottomline customer for over 5 years, the Sheffield Park hotel decided to migrate from their existing installed WinBacs software to Bottomline’s cloud offering, PT-X, for easier and more efficient payments and collections.
Previously, Sheffield Park relied on a single, aging machine that not only housed its payments and collections software, but was also used to manage the restaurant and hotel bookings. Collecting 300 Direct Debits and making multiple supplier and staff payments each month meant this way of working was no longer practical. With different members of the team using the one workstation for different purposes, the risks of fraud and failure were constantly increasing.
Minimised risk of fraud or failure The Director of Finance, Tony Fish, recognised the need to change; if that one machine was to fail, no payments, DD collections (or reservations) could be made. It was a single point of failure that the hotel couldn’t afford to risk.
