Inefficient payment processing is expensive and time-consuming, particularly with outdated solutions that no longer fit your business needs, such as cheques or unscalable software. Retaining control, remaining compliant (including with TLS), and reducing the risk of failure is key to ensuring a seamless payment process.
Bacs & Faster Payments TLS security change
In June 2015 Bacs announced changes to their security protocols, moving from Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to Transport Layer Security (TLS) by June 2016. This date has been extended to 2 July for Faster Payments and to 19 September for Bacs payments. TLS is a cryptographic protocol that ensures privacy between communicating applications and ensures that no third party may eavesdrop or tamper with any message. TLS is the successor to the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) that is currently used by all Bacstel-IP software. This industry change is all about improving the communications standards used when connecting to the Bacs service either via software or Payment Services Website.
All current versions of our products are TLS compliant. If you are already a Bottomline customer, please contact us to check if the product version you are using is TLS compliant. Customers using PT-X do not need to take any action regarding TLS.
