Course Descriptions and Registration Information

Transform for Enterprise Users

This course is a practical, hands-on introduction to the Transform Software development environment.

During the first three days, students will learn about the capabilities of the system, its design tools, and principles of good program design using the graphical development environment. The student will learn how to use the Transform Designer Software design tool to create new and navigate existing projects. Tasks will include importing a variety of data formats, performing basic data transformation, applying conditional processing, and presenting dynamically formatted output. Producing understandable, maintainable projects is emphasized throughout the instruction.

The fourth day covers the administration of a Transform Foundation Server. It provides instruction for the installation, configuration, monitoring, and administration of the core modules. Topics include but are not limited to: installation, system configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting processes, license key management, project administration, adding new users and deploying bundles. This hands-on day provides an understanding of how the software is used, installed, configured and monitored with a major focus on the use of the Administration web interface.

The final day of the Transform training course is a document design lab. Construct and test a document of your choice utilizing Transform Designer and Transform Foundation Server. Create one proprietary document using your own customer-specific data with a Bottomline Instructor. The instructor will be available to help mentor you through any rough spots with planning, drawing, mapping, applied business logic and execution. Please bring one or more documents (time permitting), graphic files (such as your logo) and sample data.

Transform Training Advanced Course Description

Prerequisites:

Basic Transform training or working knowledge

Currently using Transform version 8 or newer

Transform has a large set of capabilities, and many installations settle into the perceived need at the time of install and don't explore its advanced capabilities. During the first day of the advanced course students will review the standard system architecture, and then explore the extended feature set of Transform Foundation Server. Course materials highlight the scalability features of Transform. Topics may include multiple server support, Production and Non‐Production environments, and routing processes for failover.

Two to three days of class are devoted to branch design workshops. These workshops will give the students practical, instructor‐led exposure to Transform design tasks and introduce powerful features of Transform objects. Best practices for repository design, error handling, data flow and processing are emphasized throughout. Common real‐world Transform programming tasks will be constructed using classroom sample data. Workshop topics may include AP check production, web‐enabled branches, and conversion of Formscape programs to Transform.

During the other days, students will examine background processes at the core of Transform Foundation Server, and the underlying applications in a Transform environment. Hands‐on work will emphasize the Transform Administrator web console as a window to critical system information. Students will learn to examine and analyze system logs. Performance tuning capabilities of the system are introduced. Topics may include tuning document workers, managing Process and Server groups, the Request Store, and advanced process management.
