Account-to-account (A2A) payments (also known as “bank transfers”) have been around for a while. Typically seen as a banking transaction, they move money from one account to another - simply, cheaply, and quickly.
The issue for businesses is that bank transfers have to be instigated by the customer, and that’s where issues creep in; delays and errors can block your company from collecting the cash you’re trying to collect. This is where the power of Open Banking and our newest payment solution, Pay Direct, come in.
Pay Direct reduces the cost, effort, and settlement delay associated with receiving payments by card, traditional bank transfer and cheque. The reference data and payment details are securely locked in, eliminating the risk of payer error. Using Bottomline's Statement Searcher service you can easily reconcile your Pay Direct payments in your receiving bank account, helping the timely completion of orders and increasing customer satisfaction. And with no chargeback facility there is no risk of unfair payment reclaims.
With Pay Direct, no sensitive customer data is shared with you or Bottomline. On the customer’s side, since the transaction is secured by their online banking credentials it is fast and familiar with no keying of account details and no payment credentials left at risk with third parties. And for your business that is one less data security concern.
It’s simple. Offer your customers the ability to pay directly by bank transfer at the point of checkout or generate links that can be shared with them by SMS, email, or invoice. By clicking on 'pay by bank' or link, they will be redirected to select their bank and follow their online banking journey, authenticate using their own credentials, and authorize the payment.
Since the payments are processed via the Faster Payments Service (FPS), you’ll receive the funds in up to 2 hours (usually within seconds). Plus, since they are A2A payments, you’ll only pay a flat fee for each transaction.
